Senate Democrats staged a walkout at the Kavanaugh confirmation hearing.

Early Friday, several liberal lawmakers and their staff members began to leave the chamber shortly after the motion to set a time for a vote for the Supreme Court nominee.

Democrats are calling for the reopening of the FBI investigation into Brett Kavanaugh despite the agency already completing a background check into the nominee.

Speaking with the media outside, Democrats said the process is being rushed and accused Kavanaugh of being a political operative.

“And when he came up for his nominations hearing in 2006, there were a lot of concerns that he was a political operative and he showed that yesterday that that is what he is,” stated Senator Mazie Hirono ( D-Hawaii). “And we do not need a political operative under this kind of cloud being on the United States Supreme Court.”

Several protesters were arrested outside of the committee meeting and escorted out of the building.
